Since my daughter started with the Mighty Strong Kids program, she has learned self-discipline, her self-esteem has grown, and she has learned that she does not have to be the victim of any type of abuse. The program has been a great tool for her to feel comfortable in her own skin and safe out in the world.

The families involved in Mighty Strong Kids are like an extended family. You get to know the kids in your child's classes and their parents as well. The kids learn and grow together all the while challenging each other through the act of sparring & general teachings.

I want to say a special "thank you" to Debbie for starting such a great program and thanks to all the instructors who work with the kids to teach them the things they need to survive the things that life throws at them.

While I was taking a chemo treatment, the nurse, Shelley told me about the self defense course her boys were taking. She was so enthusiastic about it and I thought it would be such a good idea if my granddaughter Sarah could take it. At the time, I didn't know Sarah would be interested or not, she is such a girly girl. But we decided to give her a course for her birthday. Shelley had given me your name and number. 
Sarah was a little undecided at first, but after the first lesson, she loved it. The classes have taught her self confidence and self discipline, along with self defense. Later on, her little sister Grace wanted to take the classes too. Although Grace was barely four at the time, we decided to give it a try. Grace took to it right away and has done well for someone so young.
Your son, Jacob, has done most of the teaching -- Grace calls him "my karate teacher"-- and I have been amazed with his patience in dealing with the children. He never raises his voice in anger and gives them all lots of smiles and attention. He is very thorough in his teaching. Sarah and Grace adore him.
After Grace got her stripe for her white belt, I told her she had such a pretty black stripe for her belt. She said: "It's NOT pretty! PURPLE would be pretty!" :)
We are so glad the girls have been in your classes. We enjoy the sessions a lot ourselves and look forward to many more classes.

My grandaughter has just finished her first session with Mrs. Debbie. My grandaughter has Attention Deficit Disorder and Mighty Strong Kids has helped with her attention skills. We have seen a marked improvement in her conduct  as well as her grades. She loves coming to class and every new skill increases her self confidence. Mrs. Debbie has compasion and treats all of her students with kid gloves. I have yet to see her lose her temper or lower her dignity. My grandaughter was in a different "self protection class" and was refused her right to test due to her disabilty.
 Mrs. Debbie lets ALL students test and makes sure that ALL students feel successful on their test. I cannot say enough or express our debt to this program and what it has done for our family. Kudos to Mrs. Debbie for all of her hard work, and for making my grandaughter feel she has accomplished and feel very sucessful.

My daughter has just earned her yellow belt in the Mighty Strong Kids program. Since starting the program she has shown a very large increase in confidence in herself. She has always been shy and this boost in confidence has helped her to become more outgoing and more focused in everything she does. I love seeing her so proud of herself and am excited to see her continue to learn and grow with this program.

My son has been attending classes with Mrs. Walton for the past 3 years. He started as a white belt and now 4 belts later just received his purple belt. My son is currently in the 5th grade and due to his Birthday, he is a year younger in age than all his other classmates. This was very challenging for him and his teachers. During 3rd grade, once he entered into this program, a lot changed for him. His maturity, self-confidence, focus, determination has greatly improved. He has had no problem this school year with his academics. We were asked two years in a row to let my son step back in a grade level due to these concerns, his Father and I were determined that this was not a need, he could complete the work given, just had a difficult time with the above. If you have a child that may be younger or in the same situation, I would recommend this program for them. Mrs. Walton and her team are very professional and handle each child on their own level. No student of theirs ever feels defeated.

When our son turned three he was still speaking baby gibberish and after several hearing tests we found out that his hearing was fine.  Our son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS.  Since that time, it has become our mission as parents to help him learn coping mechanisms to carry with him throughout his lifetime.  I was very excited to find out about Mighty Strong Kids through the Moore Community Center.  Not only was this program cost effective, but it was clearly just what our son needed. 


After only a few weeks in the program we noticed a positive change at home and at school.  His teacher was so excited about it that she came to watch him test for his yellow belt.  I am now the proud parent of two Mighty Strong Kids now, with my daughter starting this year.   Mighty Strong Kids teaches more than just safety, it teaches self-respect.
